What's on your heart?

Do you want to know what is on your heart at any given moment?  Then open your eyes!  Whatever you are focusing on at any point in time is what is primarily on your heart. Our eyes and our attention will focus on what is in our heart.  If we are hungry, we will focus on (look at, consider, think about, plan to get) food.  If we are thirsty for water, the same thing will happen.  If we crave approval, love, excitement, money, pleasure, things, etc., these will be what our eyes, mind, will, and emotions (body and soul) will focus on.

Consider what you thought about or sought today.  Anything we crave besides God is a substitute for His Love. I'm not trying to make anyone feel bad, I just want to give you a tool so that you can monitor the health of your heart.  Throughout the day we need to periodically get a check up to see what we are focusing on.  Make no mistake about it - the devil will bombard us with anything he can to distract us from God.  The devil studies us and knows what "buttons" to push.  He customizes his temptations because he knows which ones are most effective. Never rule out the role of the enemy in your day to day "ordinary" temptations and distractions.  He wants you to think your thoughts are just your thoughs.  You know what?  In reality, it doesn't really matter where these bad thoughts come from.  Doubt, fear, unbelief are deadly enemies to the Child of God and we need to use deadly force against them!  The Word of God is the most powerful thing in all of the universe!!!  God has exalted above all things His Name and His Word. Ps 138:2

You've heard the old saying, "You are what you eat."  This is true both on the natural and spiritual levels. If we live on junk food our bodies will grow weaker.  If we feed our hearts (through our eyes and ears) on junk shows, junk videos, junk music, junk pictures instead of the pure Word of God our spirits will grow weaker.  Notice the commonality of the "junk" I just mentioned?  It's ungodly media!  The devil is appropriately called the "prince of the power of the air" (Eph 2:2) and he uses the airways to preach his false gospel.  Brothers and Sisters, I am no better than you and I need to repent of my choices as well. I am terribly grieved by the thousands of fb Christian profiles I've reviewed.  I review 99% of the profiles before accepting friend requests and I am appalled by what Christians "like".  Sure, they "like" the Bible but they also like very ungodly secular music and TV shows.  There is no possible way for us to spend a lot of time indulging these forms of entertainment and stay full of God's Spirit.  God has really gotten in my face about my time choices.  He tells me the time is short and I need to focus on Him so that He can more effectivly use me to reach people.  Praise God I have been making better choices and my "ministry" has grown more in the last 2  years than in the previous 20 years! I've spent hundreds of hours in my spare time building ResourcesForChristians.net from scratch and in less than 2 years people from all over the world are being edified by nearly 10,000 teachings from some of the best ministries on the planet!

In conclusion (did someone just say Hallelujah!) consider the following.  Is anything blocking your view of Jesus?  Anything that is between you and Jesus will block your view of Him.  Even a small object that is held close enough to your eyes can blind you.  Try moving your hand in front of your eyes. The closer we get to Jesus the more He will fill our view.  In fact, if we get close enough to Jesus (face to face) He will be all we see!  Beloved, this is our goal.  We do this by setting our hearts and minds on things above and not on earthly things (Col 3).

Remember, what we see is what we will be.

I have set the LORD always before me.Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalm 16:8

I will set before my eyes no vile thing. Psalm 101:3

Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. Proverbs 4:25

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,Look full in His wonderful face,And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,In the light of His glory and grace.
